Christmas will be upon us here shortly.  With that in mind, we would like to present our Christmas Mass schedule to you for planning purposes.  Saturday, December 23, 2017, Mass will be at 4:00 PM at Divine Infant of Prague Mission in Gulliver.  Mass will be at 5:30 PM at St. Francis de Sales in Manistique.  Please note that there will be no Mass on Sunday, December 24 at either Divine Infant of Prague or at St. Francis de Sales.  Sunday, December 24, 2017, Mass will be at 5:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Parish (Christmas Eve Family Mass).  Mass will be celebrated on the same date and 7:00 PM at Divine Infant of Prague Mission in Gulliver.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 PM at St. Francis de Sales Parish.  On Monday, December 25, the Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Parish. For the next weekend, the Mass schedule will be as usual with a 4:00 PM Mass at Divine Infant of Prague and 5:30 PM Mass at St. Francis de Sales (both on Saturday, December 30, 2017).  Then there will be a morning Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Parish (Sunday, December 31, 2017).  Finally, on Monday, January 1, 2018, there will be a morning Mass (10:00 AM) at St. Francis de Sales Parish.  Please note: New Years Day is not a Holy Day of Obligation--therefore, we will not have a vigil Mass the evening prior.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (Fr. Ben) at 906-630-5101.

In line with Bishop John Doerfler's document about evangelization (Transforming Fire: A New Pentecost to Form Spirit-Filled Evangelizers [you can read this at]), we at St. Francis de Sales and Divine Infant of Prague are working on becoming an evangelizing parish.  We need your help...and your prayers.  Please pray for us as we begin our new journey towards evangelization.  The parish evangelization team is meeting at the present with the goal of preparing our evangelization plan to present to the bishop on Pentecost Sunday, 2017.  We are hoping to implement this plan sometime after it is reviewed by the bishop.  However, everyone can evangelize NOW!!!!!  Follow your heart and invite someone to come to Sunday Mass--especially if they have not been to Church in a long time.

One of the most important things that we as Catholics can and should do is to pray before the Blessed Sacrament.  An opportunity is available through Adoration.  But many times, these times are available, but not many people attend.  At the present time, we are re-designing our Adoration and, as a result, we now have "Adoration Plus!" which will be Adoration of the Eucharist as well as a spiritual 'talk' and music.  Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare to embark on this important mission.  The first topic for discussion will be "Truth."  The inaugural "Adoration Plus" will be on Monday, December 10, 2017 at 7:00 PM.  Afterwards, please join Fr. Ben for coffee and continued discussion (and, a snack of course!) at the Big Boy!

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is still celebrated on Wednesdays at 11:30 AM.  However, confessions are heard at any time and an appointment can be scheduled with Fr. Ben by calling the Church office.  Also, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be scheduled at any time as well.

There will be two Advent Penance Services scheduled for December 19, 2017.  The first one will be at 1:00 PM and is specifically for the children of St. Francis de Sales School.  However, adults are welcome to participate in this penance service, but they must allow the children to celebrate the sacrament first.  The second opportunity will be later in an evening penance service at 7:00 PM (same date).  Come and reconcile yourself with the Lord...just in time for Christmas!

(a note in reference to the Penance Services listed above: it had been quite difficult to schedule the penance services due to the availability of the priests.  It is incorrectly listed in the Church bulletin of December 10, 2017 that there is an Advent Penance Service on Wednesday, December 20.  Originally, this was the case.  However, the Penance Services for Advent are correctly listed above.  We regret any confusion that this has caused).

We, the people of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church and in the Real Presence of Christ, Our Lord, in the Eucharist. We are a community that prays together, and we give of our time, talent and treasure. We seek to be good examples of Christian living by loving one another as Christ loves us, and by placing a high value on family life. We believe all human life has value from beginning to end. We see our Parish as a family which includes the unborn, youth, singles, single parents, married, married parents, divorced, separated, widowed and seniors.
