BREAKING PARISH NEWS
Beginning Sunday, January 8 and continuing until Sunday, March 26, the Holy Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM only. Our "summer schedule" (Mass at 9:00 and 11:00 AM) will return on April 2, 2017. Please note this important change.
PRESENTATION ON FUNERALS: "EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FUNERALS (IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH) BUT WERE AFRAID (OR HESITANT TO ASK)" WILL BE PRESENTED ON MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2017 AT 7:00 PM
This presentation was originally scheduled for Monday, April 3. However, in light of renewed interest and also with the possibilities of expanding our program to include other persons who work with funerals, it was decided to re-schedule our presentation. One of the questions that comes to mind is: "who can have a funeral in the Catholic Church?" Another question is: "What should we do with the 'ashes' (cremains that are given to loved ones from the funeral home)? Can they be buried? Can they be scattered? Can they _____________?" Come to our presentation with these and all other questions and we will answer them for you but also assist in helping you to plan for your funeral or at least give you an idea of what is allowed in the Catholic Church. It is anticipated that this presentation will be the first in a series entitled: "The Mystery of Faith."
NOMINATIONS FOR THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
Very shortly, we will be accepting nominations for those interested in serving on our "Parish Pastoral Council." This is an advisory group to the pastor and assists him in the mission of the Church. The parish pastoral council is a 'visionary and planning' group. In other words, we work together to make our parish better. In the past, the group has been instrumental in many facets of the parish and its spiritual and social activities (i.e.: the healing Mass, the Polka Mass, etc...). I sincerely invite all interested persons to pray and reflect on this path of your spiritual life. We need your help. Nominations will begin on April 22/23, 2017 and names of those nominated will be chosen on May 1, 2017. Please consider this opportunity as an invitation to assist and work with our parish as we continue to strive to be the most vibrant parish in the diocese!
PRAISE AND WORSHIP NIGHT WITH "THE WELL"
We are presently planning on a local appearance of the Christian band "The Well." This was a musical group formed at St. Louis the King parish in 2012. Our pastor, Fr. Ben, was an original member and bassist in the group. The band plays contemporary Christian music (Newsboys, Matt Maher, etc...) and is quite accomplished. We are planning on having them come to our parish for a "Praise and Worship" event. Everyone is welcome! We hope to have a date for this in the not-too-distant future.
HEALING MASS FOR THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA--SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2017!
On Saturday, May 13, 2017, a Mass for Healing will be offered at St. Francis de Sales Parish at 11:00 AM. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be available to those who are in need of healing. On this date, which is the 100th anniversary of the miracle at Fatima (where the Blessed Virgin appeared to the three children and effected a miracle that resulted in many healings), we commemorate our Mother, Mary, the Blessed Virgin who still assists us today in our plight. All are welcome to this important commemoration and Holy Mass. Please join us and let us pray for those who are in need of healing!
NEWS ON THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (CONFESSIONS)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is still celebrated on Wednesdays at 11:30 AM. However, confessions are heard at any time and an appointment can be scheduled with Fr. Ben by calling the Church office. Also, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be scheduled at any time as well.
We, the people of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church and in the Real Presence of Christ, Our Lord, in the Eucharist. We are a community that prays together, and we give of our time, talent and treasure. We seek to be good examples of Christian living by loving one another as Christ loves us, and by placing a high value on family life. We believe all human life has value from beginning to end. We see our Parish as a family which includes the unborn, youth, singles, single parents, married, married parents, divorced, separated, widowed and seniors. Because we see Christ in others, we seek out and welcome ALL people.
